“Inside the church planning and follow-through are essential. But outside of the church readiness is the priority.”
I arrived at Fix Coffee, a local coffee shop in the rapidly gentrifying neighborhood of Echo Park. I was meeting Ken and Ray outside of the church. But our agenda focused on problems inside the church. Almost all of the churches in Los Angeles were in decline. How could we turn things around? We were in deep conversation when God began drawing outside the lines.
It began with a hand gingerly tapping my shoulder. Surprised, I turned around to see Rosa, a woman who had recently become my friend. Rosa was an “urban shepherd” who thought and lived way outside the box. With passion and excitement she said, “Are you ready to take the next step with the Urban Sheep Farm?”
