No, this is not the lair of a mad scientist. This photo has nothing to do with the FBI. I am neither huddled in my office planning a crime nor working with a team of officers to hunt down criminals. But this outline of my next book feels a little like Sherlock Holmes.
I recently read “A Study in Scarlet” by Arthur Conan Doyle and was encouraged to shape my own storyline as a “pursuit.” Will Watson, the key character in my book is pursuing clues in the hope of finding an answer. Here are a few of the clues:
How did a short-lived, small-town man of Jewish extraction, who never wrote a book, never made a million dollars, and never held a prestigious position in a religious institution become one of the best-known people ever to live on this planet?
How does a book continue to deeply impact contemporary inhabitants of this planet across barriers of race, culture, language, and economics after more than 2,000 years of publication?
How have the above two clues developed in the face of continuing distortions and misrepresentations by institutional gatekeepers claiming the authority to control this person and this book?
The study blackboard is the developing outline of this book, which will soon begin as monthly posts, on this Substack channel. In addition to regular Thursday content, these chapters of historical fiction, will encourage us in our spiritual journey as we follow Will Watson’s adventure of seeking the answers to such riddles in his life in Los Angeles.
I can’t wait to share it with you!
This intrigues me and I’m looking forward to reading more of this, Randy! 🙂👍
